Best phones of 2016 – we’re only about half way in 2016, but despite that, some awesome phones have been released. Here are some of the Best phones of 2016
Please note that this list includes smartphones release only in 2016.
Best phones of 2016 – Samsung Galaxy S7
Released in March 2016, this is the latest and greatest smartphone Samsung has to offer. The Samsung Galaxy S7 sports the latest Qualcomm Snapdragon 820 coupled with 4 GB of RAM. You can choose between 32 or 64 GB of internal storage, which is expandable with a microSD card, up to 256 GB. You get a wicked 12 MP camera, capable of some beautiful shots. Up front is a 5.1″ 1440p super AMOLED display. All this is packed in a sexy, waterproof unibody. And, of course, the Edge version of this phone is available as well. If you want something more tough, the Galaxy S7 Active is for you.
Best phones of 2016 – Apple iPhone 6S
Coming from Apple’s side, we have the iPhone 6S and the iPhone 6S Plus, Now, on paper, it seems rather underpowered. Featuring only 2 cores clocked at 1.84 GHz and 2 GB of RAM, you might say it stands no chance against, say, the Galaxy S7, or any new high-end phone. But don’t let that fool you. This phone is seriously powerful, thanks to iOS 9, and upcoming iOS 10. Other stuff this phone features is non-expandable storage, coming in at 16/64/128 GB variants. The camera, which is a 12 MP sensor, is one of the best on the market right now. The normal version sports a 4.7″ screen, and the Plus version has a 5.6″ Full HD screen. Oh, and don’t forget the 3D touch thing.
Best phones of 2016 – Huawei P9
From this Chinese phone manufacturer, we have a sexy, slim, dual-camera phone. This phone features Huawei’s HiSilicom Kirin 955 chipset. For memory, you have 2 options. You can get a 32 ROM/3 GB RAM combo, or 64 GB ROM/4 GB RAM combo. It’s up to you. Up front is a 5.2″ Full HD screen. But the fun part is at the back. You have 2 cameras. One takes normal, 12 MP pictures, while the other one takes monochrome (black and white) pictures. The phone is running Android 6, paired with Emotion UI 4.2.
Best phones of 2016 – OnePlus Three
I won’t talk much about this phone, because I already have. You can click here to read about it (opens in new tab). But to sum it up, it’s a powerful phone with 6 GB of RAM, and relatively cheap.
Best phones of 2016 – iPhone SE
The iPhone SE got the nickname “The AMG version of the the iPhone 5S”. And that nickname does suit it well. If it wasn’t for the small SE badge at the back, it looks the same as the iPhone 5S. The iPhone SE has the brick body of the iPhone 5, and the internals of the iPhone 6S. Now, there have been different comments about this, how Apple recycled their own design. But in reality, if you don’t like having a big phone, this phone is perfect for you. At 4″, it’s still reasonably sized.
Best phones of 2016 – HTC 10
HTC’s smartphones have mostly been successful, but had still had some issues. For example, the previous flagship, HTC M9, had a poor camera. This time, HTC came to their senses and made a really, really good. Smartphone. Like most smartphones on this list, it features all the latest specs:Snapdragon 820, 4 GB of RAM and 32/64 GB ROM combo, lovely 12 MP camera, 5.2″ 1440p screen etc. Of course, all this is packed in HTC’s recognizable design, featuring 2 loudspeakers.
Best phones of 2016 – LG G5
Just like most of the other phones on this list, you get all the standard flagship specs: Snapdragon 820, 4 GM RAM/32 GB ROM (expandable), 5.2″ 1440p screen, 16 MP camera etc… I think you get the trend here. But, the LG G5 does have one trick. It’s modular! Well, at least to some degree. You can pull the battery out, and slide in another one, but with different modules, say, a camera grip. Since it was released in April, we’re still waiting for more modules to come out. Apart from that, the LG G5 also moved the volume buttons from the back to the side. LG also worked on their software. They made it a bit faster, removed some bloatware, and removed the app drawer to “make it more simple”.
